Technology with Purpose
Christa McAuliffe School opened its doors in 2012, and at the same time implemented a 1:1 iPad program. From the beginning, we have strived to find and integrate both content and creation apps that serve the elementary curriculum in meaningful ways. We have established a culture of digital citizenship, and each year our students sign the CMS Elementary Student Technology Use Guidelines and Responsibilities document to ensure that they understand the importance of responsible technology use.
Because of our dedication to purposeful technology in the classroom, our school was recognized as an Apple Distinguished Program (2014 - 2016). We use a variety of iPad apps to engage students in standards-based content, to provide them with opportunities to display their knowledge, to assess their progress, and to personalize their academic experience. Some of our favorite apps include Book Creator, Showbie, Google Apps, Dreambox, and Lexia Reading Core 5.
